Day 8 - No Bus Day

This morning I decided to stay home and play in the kitchen. Wednesday is Farmers' Market Day and we still had produce from last week that needed attention. Job one: a great green smoothie with everything left over from last week (bok choy, cucumber, beet greens, and cilantro with peach, banana, apple, and plum).

Job 2: make granola. I love the recipe that Amanda gave me and so do Karen, Todd, and Katelyn.

Into the oven...

Three hours later, ready to eat!

Jobs 3, 4, and 5: Cook the beets, make up some rhubarb-apple sauce, and also make quinoa tabuli.

Then off on a walking adventure!

Down into the Kiwanis Ravine...

And into the woods...

Then, surprise! The train bridge over the ship canal.

And even a work train going across!

And a little further, the locks for the ship canal.

And, of course, a fish ladder.

With King Salmon, as my best guess.

Then on to the Wallingford Farmers' Market for my last visit this year!

Mountains of wonderful food and a great playground.

A good time was had by all! The evening completed with a book reading party on my bed, and Katelyn going to bed relatively easily. Thank you, Katelyn!

Tomorrow, GraMary visits preschool!
