A Busy Birthday Weekend

Katelyn's birthday was on Sunday. The party was held Saturday. Karen and I created a pinata shaped like an ice cream cone. The theme for the party that Katelyn decided on was ice cream, yet she was adamant that there would be NO REAL ice cream at the party!?!

An ice cream cone shaped cake, but not made of ice cream.

Even a game passing the "ice cream" from cone to cone.

And a little Duck, Duck, Goose to blow off some of the sugar energy from the cake.

After the actual party, we moved on to the nearby playground and most of the kids were able to join.

Travis needed some play time away from the big kids. GraMary is always ready for play!

On Sunday, Katelyn had asked for a trip to Tulip Town, a yearly tradition with the family since moving to Seattle. The fields were totally amazing as always!

Karen had hoped for a family picture. Not a simple request with a 6 and a 2 year old. This was about the best of the four of them.

Karen thanked me for my cooperation for this picture. I stayed still, looked at the camera, and smiled!

But, surprise! One good one of the kids. Very unusual to catch them both smiling, looking at the camera, and one not trying to aggravate the other or wiggle away!

The flowers were not for picking or touching; a great challenge for Travis. But he learned to touch them with his nose, though I was trying to get him to smell them. Each time he touched, he said, "Boop!"

Katelyn got to pick out a plant to take home. She was so happy with these yellow and red ones. Since there were no others that color available and these were pretty far gone, they gave them to her for free as we had bought some cut flowers too.

Later that day, finally, the real ice cream! Yum!

And a yummy dinner of home made pizza. We ate outside on the deck as the weather was so warm and sunny. What a treat for this Michigander...my friends at home say it's still snowing there.  :-(

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY, KATELYN!
